I'm originally from South Carolina, but have managed to live all over the southeast for the past few years. Right now I'm in Atlanta at Georgia Tech working on my degree in Material Science. Right now my big project is getting my GPA back up so I can get into law school - the past two years I've been intensly studying beer and mind-altering substances. Aside from that, I've recently moved into a place in Homepark from my fraternity house on campus, and have just been keeping things slow. I've spent my summers the past few years doing a mix of things - research this year and the last (GaTech MSE: Blowing Shit Up Dept), and pursuing my passion, Scuba Diving; I'm headed down to Florida soon to do my checkout dives for my Divemaster certification, so at least if I leave tech I'll have a fallback job somewhere with blue water and a great sunset. Other than that, I've grown up around boats and the water, enjoy spending relaxing time outside, and just not taking things too seriously....

I grew up in Alaska my whole life. Now I'm in Atlanta, Georgia for flight school. For the past year I have been attending Combat System's Officer school with the Air Force. I just got my wings now I'm finishing up the last of my training to fly C-130's. Music is a big part of my life, I actually was in a band a year ago and performed open mics and put out a C.D. Mostly Comedy music like Tenacious D. We even got radio time in Anchorage if you can believe it. I love pretty much anything outdoors especially camping, fishing and snowboarding. Well yes and of course Flying!! My father and I built an airplane together in Alaska where I fly it every chance I get. I'm a full time college school student right now. Outside of my school work, I work, I like to play and watch sports,work out, go out or even stay in....

I am so tempted to start writing, "If you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain," but I suppose you're looking for something with a little more depth. I'm a writer; you wouldn't think this would be so difficult. Okay, here goes: If you were to ask my friends and family for the qualities that attract them to me, they would probably say my sense of humor, my sensitivity, and my loyalty. Actually, my family would probably say they hang out with me because they're stuck with me. They can't really trade me in; we're family. While you may not be reading this and going, "Man, this guy's a laugh riot!" my sense of humor is one of my strengths and something that I look for in other people. I come from a funny family of which I'm the youngest, so ever since I was a baby, I've been able to charm and joke my way out of trouble. I was the class clown in high school as well as the star of all the Drama Club productions. Now, I've found a way to get paid to be funny; writing comedy scripts for Cartoon Network. I love to make people laugh, but I can also turn it off and be serious when the mood calls for it. I am an empathic listener and an excellent conversationalist. I love getting to know people and genuinely connecting with them on a deep level. I can stay up all night talking over a bottle of wine, supporting someone over one of her successes and giving her a shoulder to cry on when things aren't going so well. I am also an incredibly loyal person. I am lucky to have a great deal of friends, many of which I've had for over 15 years. I value my friends and family more than anything in the world, and I know that when I find that special someone, she will be no exception. I am very close to my parents, my siblings, and my nieces and nephews, and I view them all as friends. There is no better feeling in the world than going over to my nieces' and nephews' house and having them run up to me shouting, "Uncle Matt! Uncle Matt!" Someday, I hope to have that with my own kids, only I hope they won't call me, "Uncle Matt". But first, I hope to find the love of a good woman who gets that excited to see me when I come through the door. Speaking of that woman, I am looking for someone with a great sense of humor. She doesn't have to go to every Thrashers home game, but she can't have a problem with me going to every Thrashers home game. Someone with whom I can travel around the world for a couple of weeks and still get along with her. Someone who will read in bed with me, her with her book and me with mine, while our dog (a beagle named Gretzky, unless she's really opposed to naming a dog after a hockey player) is curled up at our feet.
